Limestone County Archives

The Limestone County Archives is the official repository for historic Limestone County records. The collection includes government records dating to 1818 produced by the Probate Court, Circuit Court, Revenue Commission, County Commission, Board of Education and Board of Registrars, and non-government records including personal family histories, photographs of Limestone County people, places, and events, and microfilmed newspapers. Search and browse records at www.limestonearchives.com. The Archives is located at 102 W. Washington St. in Athens, and can be reached at 256-233-6404 or archives@limestonecounty-al.gov.

A support group called the Friends of the Archives focuses on maintaining a small library and collecting material pertaining to Limestone County. They also are the publishing arm of the archives. Visit their site at www.facebook.com/friendsofthearchives.
